Questions we actually get asked
Straight answers — no marketing waffle.
What is PayNudge?
PayNudge is a cashflow follow-up tool that connects to Xero and helps you chase overdue invoices — without spending your evenings writing reminder emails. It drafts follow-ups, tracks customer replies, and adjusts automatically when someone responds.
Who is PayNudge built for?
Tradies and service businesses in New Zealand and Australia. Plumbers, electricians, builders, landscapers, painters — anyone running a small crew who doesn’t have a finance team chasing invoices for them.
How does PayNudge connect to Xero?
You sign in with your Xero account and authorise PayNudge to read your invoices. We pull in your overdue invoices and contact details automatically — no CSV uploads or manual entry.
What happens when a customer replies to a reminder?
That’s the bit most tools get wrong. PayNudge reads the reply — if a customer asks a question, promises to pay, or disputes the amount, the next reminder adjusts or pauses. You don’t end up sending an awkward follow-up after someone’s already responded.
Will PayNudge send reminders without my approval?
No. Every reminder is drafted for you to review first. If something looks sensitive — a dispute, legal language, or a customer who’s gone quiet — it gets flagged for your approval before anything goes out.
How is this different from Xero’s built-in invoice reminders?
Xero’s reminders are on a fixed schedule and don’t respond to what customers say. PayNudge reads replies, adjusts tone based on the situation, groups invoices per customer, and gives you a review queue so you stay in control.
Does PayNudge work with Gmail?
Yes. PayNudge connects to Gmail to track replies and delivery signals. When a customer responds to a reminder, PayNudge picks it up and adjusts the workflow — so you’re not chasing someone who’s already been in touch.
What does the free trial include?
Everything. Full access to all features for 14 days, no credit card required. Connect Xero, generate reminders, track replies — the lot.
Can PayNudge handle customers who dispute an invoice?
Yes. If a customer replies with a question or dispute, PayNudge pauses the reminder sequence, flags it for your review, and drafts an appropriate follow-up that acknowledges their concern rather than pushing for payment.
What if a customer promises to pay?
PayNudge tracks it. If someone says they’ll pay by a certain date, the system moves to a "waiting for payment" state and only follows up again if that date passes without payment coming through.
Is my Xero data safe?
Yes. PayNudge uses Xero’s official OAuth integration — we never see your Xero password. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and we only access the invoice and contact data needed to run follow-ups. You can disconnect at any time.
Does PayNudge work for Australian businesses too?
Absolutely. PayNudge supports both NZD and AUD currencies and is built for the way Kiwi and Aussie businesses operate. The tone, language, and workflows are designed for this market — not adapted from a US product.
How much does PayNudge cost?
Check our pricing page for the latest plans. We keep it simple — no per-invoice fees, no hidden charges. The free trial gives you 14 days to see if it works for your business before you pay anything.
Can I customise the tone of reminders?
Yes. You can choose from several tones — including a tradie tone that uses plain, direct NZ/AU English. No corporate jargon, no "please find attached". Just clear, professional follow-ups that sound like they came from you.
What happens after the free trial ends?
You choose a plan to continue, or your account pauses. Nothing gets deleted — your data stays safe. No surprise charges, no auto-billing without your say-so.
